Daily Highlights

DAY 1 – Almaty to Tamgaly Tas

Depart from Almaty and begin the journey with an off-road driving briefing before heading to Tamgaly Tas. Upon arrival, explore the fascinating ancient rock carvings and Buddha images, followed by a light hike along the riverside. Enjoy an engaging storytelling session about the historic Silk Road, the journeys of Buddhist monks through these lands, and the ancient caravan routes that once connected cultures and civilizations.

DAY 2 – Tamgaly Tas to Komirshi Gorge

Start the day with a relaxing morning tea by the river before continuing the journey through Kazakhstan’s scenic steppe and rocky landscapes. Upon arrival at Komirshi Gorge, enjoy a short hike through the canyon while discovering the cultural significance of sacred gorges, the importance of water in Tengri beliefs, and the traditional stories surrounding the spirits of the mountains.

DAY 3 – Komirshi Gorge to Tekes Valley

Begin the day with an early departure towards Tekes Valley, travelling through scenic river crossings, vast open pastures, and traditional herders’ lands. Along the way, discover the important role of horses in Kazakh culture and learn about the historic migration routes of nomadic communities. If possible, enjoy an optional encounter with local herders and their horses while taking in the breathtaking views of the endless valley.

DAY 4 – Tekes Valley to Tuzkol Salt Lake

Travel through dramatic, lunar-like landscapes towards Tuzkol Salt Lake. Upon arrival, enjoy a barefoot walk across the beautiful white salt surface and take in the unique surroundings. Discover the historical importance of salt in nomadic trade and learn about the traditional beliefs surrounding the healing properties of salt lakes. Depending on seasonal conditions, enjoy a floating experience and drone filming, followed by a peaceful sunset in the silence of nature.

DAY 5 – Tuzkol to Charyn Canyon (Lodge Stay)

Enjoy the sunrise at Tuzkol Lake before driving to Charyn Canyon. Explore the spectacular Valley of Castles on a hike, discovering ancient rock formations shaped by wind and time, along with legends of stone warriors. End the day with a relaxing lodge stay, hot showers, comfortable beds, and a memorable farewell dinner.

DAY 6 – Departure
